NEWS

Welcome to the Spring Edition of The Nabe News!

The Potrero Hill Neighborhood House celebrates the coming of spring. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring. We’re getting more hours of day light, and more trees and flowers are in bloom. The sunsets have been beautiful. I hope everyone has been able to get out, go for a walk and enjoy the spectacular views in our wonderful neighborhood.

As we approach the one year anniversary of shelter in place, the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House wants to just acknowledge how challenging things have been. Many of us are missing people who are no longer with us, are recovering from illness, or are facing additional financial issues. Making it through this year has been more than a challenge for many in our community.

We at the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House would like to thank all of our neighbors for their kindness and support.

- Edward Hatter, Executive Director

March 10, 2021 marks the end of the 2020-21 fall semester with many of our low income students achieving better than grade level, and even exceeding their academic requirements. We are still struggling with attendance consistency, but many of the students had issues with attendance before COVID 19. As we move into the spring semester, we are planning and making room to bring in Middle School students, who are reported to be struggling the most with distance learning. Many of which have checked out of school all together.

Vaccine Updates:

The City of San Francisco is currently vaccinating healthcare workers, people 65 years and over, and people who work in education, childcare, emergency services, and food and agriculture. The vaccine will be available by appointment at high-volume and community sites, certain clinics, and pharmacies.

As of Feb. 24, 2021, the Nabe’s Hub staff are eligible for the vaccine. SFUSD is working with the City to expedite the process of getting a vaccine for staff members who are a critical part of our return to in-person learning.

Building and Grounds Updates: On February 24, 2021 the Potrero Hill Neighborhood House released a public request for Local Roofing contractors to submit closed bids for the replacement of our gymnasium roof. This roof replacement includes the removal of fifty non-operable solar panels and their anchoring devices, replacement of all adjacent gutters and down pipes, and broken skylights.

Coffee with a Cause

Our local coffee shop, Farley's, has launched their Give Back Blend. $5 from every bag sold goes as a donation to help fund a Middle School Group Leader for their Education HUB program that supports children and families who struggle to manage online school during the pandemic. Purchase your very own bag, or sign up for a coffee subscription here
